There’s no one in New York City who knows pizza better than Scott’s Pizza Tours founder, Scott Wiener. This self-proclaimed pizza nerd and author of “Viva La Pizza”, had such an obsession with pizza—not just eating it, but we’ll get to that—that he decided to dedicate his life to educating others with his encyclopedic pizza knowledge.

Yes, Scott loves pizza, but he also loves the science, the history, and the box. He holds the Guinness Book of World Records for owning the largest collection of pizza boxes, at 1,000 and counting, from pizzerias around the globe, which landed him in a documentary about the diverse collection.

Scott’s Pizza Tours offer seven different walking tour options ($45) led by his team of expert guides. Each run approximately 2.5-3 hours and explore different neighborhoods around the city including Deconstructing Pizza offered at Eataly downtown where guests are taken on a deep dive into the components and various pizza styles.

On Sundays, you will find Scott personally leading the NYC Pizza Bus tours ($65) in which the group hops on a rockin’ yellow school bus, after getting the first slice of pie and a history lesson, to tour New York’s outer boroughs and visit four pizzerias in 4 1/2 hours. You’ll not only taste authentic pizza, you’ll get a behind the scenes look, meet the pizzaiolos, study the nuances of this beloved food, and experience Scott’s infectious enthusiasm for pizza first hand. Even if you’re a pizza connoisseur and/or born-and-bred New Yorker, like myself, you’ll a) learn something new, b) taste something new, and c) have more fun than you’ve had in a long time (or hopefully all of the above).
