City Guide: Rome
Osteria der Belli
A casual locals hangout with a Sardinian seafood spin and plenty of pastas.
After 35 years in the neighborhood, Sardinian-born Leo and his family have built up quite a reputation with the locals due to their consistently good dishes and casual atmosphere. Situated right by the central piazza of Trastevere, Piazza di Santa Maria, Osteria der Belli’s outside tables are the ideal spot to savor the menu of fresh fish and Sardinian-influenced dishes. Be sure to ask what the catch of the day is and leave the kitchen to prepare it as they think best. Also, don’t miss the fantastic antipasti featuring an array of grilled vegetables, bruschetta and raw fish specials such as the silky and refreshing sea bass carpaccio.
