City Guide: Rome
Litro
Chic wine and cocktail bar in a very cool setting.
The residential area of Monteverde has gained attention in recent years due to its great bars and restaurants which are just a short hop up the hill from Trastevere. One of these is Litro, a chic “vineria”, wine bar, (and really an all-day-cafe) which specializes in natural and biodynamic wines from all over Italy. There is also a comprehensive cocktail list which is primarily centered on Mezcal (they have over 30 different bottles) as well as Italian liqueurs and spirits. After one visit, this neighborhood gem may not only become a part of your evening routine for an al fresco glass of wine along with an accompaniment of bruschette, salumi, and cheeses. It’ll become the way to start your day with a cornetto baked by none other than Pizzariaum owner, and all-around bread maestro, Gabriele Bonci who also supplies all of Litro’s foccaccia. Don’t forget about this sweet spot when you venture to Monteverde.
