City Guide: Rome
Da Enzo al 29
A visit to Rome is not complete without a meal at this classic institution.
Siblings Chiara, Francesco, and Roberto run this simple, homey Trastevere trattoria which serves up some of the most authentic Roman food in town. With just a handful of tables the restaurant offers a small, select menu of local favorites including Rigatoni alla Carbonara, housemade meatballs, and pretty much the best tiramisu in town. Check the chalkboard for the daily menu which regularly features seasonal vegetables and fresh pasta, lasagne and gnocchi, while the wine list is composed of bottles strictly from the region of Lazio. In warmer months, grab one of the outside tables and soak up some true Trastevere atmosphere while you feast–just be sure to get there early or be prepared to wait.
