City Guide: Rome
Bar del Fico
You'll know this institution by the crowds of Romans who spill out into the piazza.
Bar del Fico is a long-standing institution in Rome and it has, in recent years, reinvented itself to be one of the hippest spots in the heart of the city. Right around the corner from Piazza Navona, the cute Piazza del Fico is an oasis of tranquillity in the midst of the historic center where locals still congregate to gossip and play chess on the outside tables. The bar itself has a shabby, vintage look and offers not only great drinks, but a full menu of delicious dishes. Regular live music events and a wonderful, laid-back, Sunday brunch with hearty, homecooked fare complete one of the coolest spots in the city.
