Founded by wife-and-husband team Danielle Oteri and Christian Galliani, Danielle an art historian and food writer has deep roots to the neighborhood, specifically its rich Italian cuisine. As you stroll, you’ll quickly gain a treasure trove of knowledge of the historic culinary scene and the Italian immigrants who for centuries have called this Belmont section of the Bronx home. Together you’ll chit-chat with shopkeepers of these family-run stores, watch fresh mozzarella prepared, sample fresh baked bread warm from the oven, learn what makes a true cannoli, stand under a veritable sausage chandelier and much more.
Small group tours (with up to 12 guests) run at 11 a.m., Tuesday – Sunday. But a great way to celebrate a family event is to book a private tour. This custom shopping and tasting tour runs 2.5 hours where guests (with a required minimum of 4) graze and explore nearly a dozen food shops including butchers, bread bakers, pastry shops and a fresh pasta artisans.
