City Guide: Rome
Armando al Pantheon
Smack across from the Pantheon you'll find this must-dine Roman classic.
As one of the best places to get fantastic, classic, Roman cuisine in what is possibly the most central location imaginable, Armando al Pantheon has garnered numerous accolades and fans since it opened way back in 1961. Literally spitting distance from the amazing Pantheon, the restaurant prides itself on supreme food and service. Although a recent renovation has done away with the slightly musty old-school interior, the menu is still firmly rooted in the traditional recipes of cucina romana. Head here for all the classics: Cacio e Pepe, Amatriciana, Carbonara or Spaghetti alla Gricia (with guanciale bacon and pecorino cheese). If your appetite is big enough for a secondi the Abbacchio a Scottadito, tender lamb cutlets, will be worth your while.
